Edgecomb Eddy School

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of the State of Maine required testing for the 2023-24 school year and to better understand student strengths and needs, Edgecomb Eddy School will administer both the NWEA Through Year Assessment (Grades 3-6) and the NWEA diagnostic assessment (Grades 1 & 2) in the coming weeks from October 7 through October 18.
The assessment is computer adaptive. After a correct answer, a student may see a more difficult question. After an incorrect answer, a student may see an easier question. As a result, the assessment adapts to the learner and is unique to every student.
NWEA Test: All learners grades 1 & 2
Assesses students in Reading and Mathematics.
Most students will finish the test in roughly one hour, however, the test is not timed and students may take as much time as they need to complete it.
Students will not need to make any special preparations. They will use their school ipads. Both prior to and following testing, we will run a normal school schedule.

Our NWEA assessments will help us better understand our students and make any adjustments necessary to curriculum and instructional materials. Fall NWEA scores will help us understand student learning needs coming out of summer vacation and after a transition into a new grade level.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Guidance Counselor, Gary Upham or Principal Landberg.
Sincerely yours,
Tom Landberg
