Greetings EES Families,

We had a fantastic week back to school at Edgecomb Eddy and we would like to thank all of our wonderful families for your continued support and efforts to ensure your child’s success at the start of the school year!  Our staff was working hard to prepare for this week and will continue to provide the highest quality education, support, and experience for our students.  We look forward to seeing students keeping the momentum going from the first week of school and to continue to give their best effort!

Our first days of school are to focus on relationship-building with students.  At Edgecomb Eddy, we recognize that positive relationships within our school will be the building blocks for every child’s healthy development academically, socially, and emotionally.  We also focus on being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in all of our routines and interactions through our school-wide focus on Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (P.B.I.S) model.  Doing so, allows us to work collaboratively, be problem-solvers, and to support one another each day we learn at school.

Transportation

If you haven't already let the school know, please let Mrs. Cooper and the classroom teacher know your child's “every day” transportation plans for arrival and dismissal.  Every day plans are appreciated, safer, and less anxiety provoking for students.  Last minute changes should be reserved for rare exceptions and emergencies only.  Dismissal changes are due before NOON.

Arrival:  Buses will arrive at 7:30. Students being driven by families can arrive between 7:30-8:00. If you are driving your child to school, please either park in the parking lot, or pull up in front of the flagpole and walk your child to the bell tower to meet with a staff member to bring your child into the school.  For safety reasons, families are not able to walk their child to their classroom.  Breakfast is served from 7:30-7:55. If your child is planning on having breakfast at school, they need to be here on time to eat in the cafeteria.

Dismissal:  Students are dismissed at 2:30 every day except for Wednesday which is at 1:30. If you are picking up your student, the pick up line starts at the flagpole where there can be two cars next to each other. Please do not pull forward if you will be blocking the bus entrance. The buses will drive onto the circle to pick up students. Family cars should not be driving in the circle. Mr. Landberg or another staff member will be calling for students to be dismissed once your car is close to the flagpole. Please wait in your car for a staff member to walk your child to your car. When we arrive at your car, you may get out to help your child buckle if needed. This process helps make pick up run smoothly and in a timely manner.

School Nutrition

The State of Maine approved a law that all students can receive free meals at school. Please complete and return your Maine Department of Education USDA Form!  School breakfast is offered from 7:30-7:55 if needed. Snack (from home or school) is from 9:45-10:00. Students are allowed to get a breakfast or snack each day, but they are not able to receive both. Lunch is served for PK-2 from 12:00-12:30, and for 3-6 from 12:30-1:00.

Open House

Our Open House will be on Monday, September 23 from 5:00-6:00 pm.  Our open house is to provide families and students the opportunity to visit our classrooms for a short time to see what they look like on a day-to-day basis.  If you would like to schedule a time to meet and discuss your child with a teacher, please do not hesitate to reach out.

First Day Paperwork

If you have not done so already, please turn in the first day paperwork that was provided from classroom teachers.  This is how we update your contact information for our school-wide alert system (for example, snowdays).

First day paperwork is due Monday, September 9th.  Please know that our Parent Handbook is accessible from our school webpage.  It is the Parent/Guardian’s responsibility to read this handbook.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in our school, community and for your student.  Parent volunteers must be approved, by filling out this FORM electronically.  Once processed you can then reach out to the classroom teacher for field trips, and other opportunities
