Boothbay Region High School
Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Boothbay Region High School. I am truly honored to serve as the principal for such an outstanding school that is emphatically supported by all our constituents.
Boothbay Region High School is a comprehensive school that strives to meet the individual academic goals and social needs of all our students. BRHS is, for many of our students, a home away and a place for exploration, enrichment, and growth.
In 2012 Boothbay Region High School was ranked, by the Maine Department of Education, as the top high school in Lincoln County and in the top 25% of the entire state in student proficiency results and graduation rates.
We have worked hard for many years to provide programs and activities that benefit our students and serve as a source of pride for our communities. We realize that we are preparing students for an ever-changing world that will require them to be life long learners that are adept with technology and part of a global society. With these points in mind we have created one of the State’s few Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academies. This allows us to offer students new cutting edge courses that provide a “hands on” approach to learning while integrating essential academic core skills and content. Students and staff at BRHS area are provided individual technological devices to enhance their learning. Our iPad program provides students the ability to learn, communicate, and create new material with one another using devices intended to prepare them for future post secondary opportunities.
Boothbay Region High School promotes and celebrates all aspects of diversity. We have an international boarding program that has brought students to our school from all around the world. Integrating and learning with students from different cultures provides our students exposure and interaction to unique points of view and beliefs. Experiences like these cannot be replicated and have a profound impact on our school community. We have a long-standing tradition of providing students opportunities to travel; this year marks our 10th exchange with our sister school in Bad Harzburg Germany. Students from BRHS have also traveled to many other countries such as France, Italy, Greece, China, England, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
There truly is something for everyone here, with over 90 individual course offerings, including 7 Advanced Placement courses, more than 20 athletic teams, and multiple programs in fine and performing arts. We are here to prepare our students and engage our communities.
